Brooks Wheelan

Brooks Wheelan is a more popular comedian in this list because he has appeared on   multiple TV shows including MTV’s Ridiculousness, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live. He actually has a biomedical engineering degree from the University of Iowa but decided to pursue a career in comedy.

Before jumping in the world of humor, he was a biomedical test engineer and also did stand-up performances in Chicago and Kansas. In 2013, he became a write for Saturday Night Live and eventually became a cast for a season. Unfortunately, Wheelan was fired from SNL but began a tour called “Brooks Wheelan Falls Back on Standup Comedy (Sorta) Tour.” With or without SNL, he continues to grow into a very popular stand-up comedian.

Emily Heller

Emily Heller (aka “Hell Bone”) is another popular comedian that continues to gain popularity in the world of comedy. She has appeared twice on Conan. She was voted Comic to Watch on Variety and Comedy Central. She has moved up the ladder of comedian popularity by creating and starring in The Future and cohosts Fresh Out!.

Aisling Bea

Aisling Bea is an Irish comedian that was won the 2012 So You Think You’re Funny award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She is only the second female to win this 25 year old award. In 2013, she was nominated for an award for her show C’est La Bea. Apart from comedy, she is also an actress, having starred in many films and shows since 2009.

Joe Lycett

Joe Lycett is a British comedian who happens to be bisexual and has appeared on a number of TV shows such as Live at the Apollo and 8 out of 10 Cats. He was the winner of the 2009 Chortle Student Comedian of the Year and was the runner-up of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year in the same year.

Since his first show in 2012, Some Lycett Hot, he has been landing show after show, even getting to be a guest star on a few of Great Britain’s popular radio shows. He continues to gain fame for his witty humor.

Bridget Christie

Bridget Christie began her stand-up comedy career in 2004 after studying acting at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in Great Britain. She was a finalist in the Funny Women competition in 2004 and was even nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year award in 2005.

In 2007, she did a show titled The Court of King Charles II in which she dressed as King Charles II (image of costume above) and won the Funny Women Best Show Fringe Award for her performance. She has continued moving up the ranks and has just published her first book A Book of Her.
