Monograms are often used to personalize different objects. They are employed by companies to create customer retention, by hotels and restaurants to customize their objects, but also by those who want to make their cup stand out at the office or wear a tee like no other.
Monograms can be either sewn on fabrics, printed, or applied to various hard substrates, such as porcelain, ceramic, and even paper.
For the latter, you first need to cut a stencil, then use it to create the design. And for this job, you need the best Cricut machine for monogramming. Wondering which to buy? Check out our selection below.

How to Make Monograms with Cricut
A Cricut machine can easily cut all kinds of monograms; the hardest part is to actually draw your design. You can do this by using your own or the Cricut Design software. We recommend the latter, as it ensures design compatibility with the machine.
To make your monogram, follow the quick steps below:
- Check out the various fonts built-in your Cricut machine and choose the one you like. Alternatively, upload the font of your choice.
- Open Cricut Design Space and choose a blank canvas. Use the text tool to type the first initial.
- Select the first initial and change the font to your desired monogram font.
- Duplicate the first initial, then simply change the letter to the second or middle initial of the monogram. This will maintain your selected font. Do the same for the third initial.
- Use the size and align functions to size and align the initials as desired.
- Select all three initials, then use the weld functions to weld your design together. That’s it! You can now print your monogram on heat transfer vinyl, paper, or cut your monogram out of fabric or other substrates.
While making monograms with Cricut is easy, remember that you should follow the same steps in all design programs or editors and with any cutting machine. Now, all you have to do is pick your favorite Cricut machine for monogramming for your arts and crafts or small business projects.
